This inner-city project involved the transformation of a narrow Victorian terrace on a site of just under 200sqm. Despite the modest lot size, the property presented significant challenges, including a steep level change of over 3.5 metres across the site, foundations on rock, and existing moisture problems affecting the lower level through rising damp.
In addition, non-compliant staircases and tight constraints are typical of inner-city terraces where highly considered approaches are a must to improve spatial planning and design circulation.
Through careful design and technical resolution, the alterations and extension not only addressed these complex site conditions but also reimagined the home to be more functional, resilient, and contemporary—demonstrating how thoughtful architecture can unlock the potential of even the most constrained sites
